What to Expect in Week 1 of Your Bathroom Renovation

You’ve signed the contract.

The date’s locked in.

And now you’re wondering — what exactly happens in that first week?

This guide breaks it all down, day by day.

No jargon. No guesswork. Just clear answers so you're ready.

📅 Day 1 – Site Prep & Protection

This is the calm before the construction.

  • We protect surrounding floors and access points

  • Lay plastic sheeting, drop cloths, and corner guards

  • Confirm all access instructions with you (alarm codes, pet gates, hours)

We’ll also finalise any tiny details — confirming tile layouts, niche heights, and where fittings go.

🛠️ Day 2 – Demolition Begins

Out with the old.

  • Tiles, vanity, toilet, and shower removed

  • Old waterproofing stripped back

  • Rubbish is removed same-day or stored neatly in a skip

Heads-up: It’ll be noisy. But we’ll give you daily time blocks if needed so you can plan work or naps around it.

🔍 Day 3 – Inspection & Prep

We assess the stripped-out room:

  • Check subfloor and wall condition

  • Fix any hidden water damage or structural issues

  • Make sure all plumbing and electrical rough-ins will work as expected

If we find surprises, we’ll call you — not just “push through.” Transparency comes first.

🔧 Day 4 – Rough-In Plumbing & Electrical

Time to get behind the walls.

  • New pipes installed for your tapware, shower, and vanity

  • Electrical wiring run for lights, mirror, GPOs, fans, underfloor heating (if included)

  • All laid out per your spec — no surprises

This is the first time your new layout becomes real.

🧱 Day 5 – Sheeting or Waterproofing

Depending on your scope, we may:

  • Install cement sheeting and prep for tiling

  • Or apply the first layer of waterproof membrane (if tiling soon)

We’ll explain what’s happening and why — so you’re always in the loop.
